Joel Grip contrabass solo

This LP-vinyl (and download) is the result of an unique and completely analogue recording and reproduction, and brings to you the very full body of a wooden battle ship of an instrument, the contrabass, and the breath of a musical mind. The production also include texts, poems, photos and drawings.

From the liner notes:

"This is a solo in duet with the current era of silent repression of every mind that’s not in line for the mental pawnshop. In these times, most shallow behaviors are presented as if the deepest of engagements and beliefs. We are dressed up in a fictional all-in-one hat, the helmet and the warhead: Die Pickelhaube.
Blow yourself out of your own mind or simply step out of your helmet.
And listen.”

For its second edition, UMLAUT PARIS festival comes rich in new sound experiences. What's the red line in between experimental night techno and daily meticulous improvisation, or baroque forgotten composers and the work of contemporary ones who questions the role of writting in the musical act?

We like to think the musical limbo as a labyrinth witch in it is at first necessary to get lost to find yourself, travelling on musical archipelago witch link us to a pur maintenant - what Paul Celan called beautifully a meridian. A meridian doesn't present an esthetic experience as a passed object cut apart from today, but turns the encounter with an artwork into an invitation to live at the unison of the past and present time, opening then a relation to the future.

We are lucky, thanks to our maecenas Claudie Carayon and painter Bernard Thomas- Roudeix, to be able to present many musicians from Germany, Sweden, France, in such formats from solo to big ensemble : unpremeditated encounters sometimes, young promising bands some other time, long-time collaborations...

This festival will be long, even very long , if we consider that time perception gets elastic with the power of psycho-gravitation proper to biodynamic wine that Marc Fèvre sprinkles on us, thanks to his connections with great traditional vignerons.

This year, the big part of the festival will take place at the Atelier Polonceau, except a special evening organised for our northern friends at the Swedish Institute. It will also be possible to move your body on the sound of an All Stars Swing Big Band on the most beautifull oldtime swing airs while your eyes will be amazed with the exhibition of the talentous phographer Lisa Grip in the 25 Chairs room.

You'll have understood, this festival has the ambition to inebriate your body and your soul, bringing together people who beleive that life belongs to them.

Hoppla, and they head out for another activist tour. On their tour this time, they aren’t just bringing good wine, but even the wine-man himself, Marc Fevre.
